F.A.Q. for VEHICLE OWNERS

What is a VIN?
VIN stands for Vehicle Identification Number. Every VIN is a 17-character combination of numbers and letters that is unique for every vehicle manufactured since 1981. Your vehicle’s VIN is as unique as your fingerprint. VIN's were standardized in the early 1980's. Today, each character of the standard 17-digit VIN has a particular purpose and most have a bar code that can easily be scanned. VIN's can be used to track recalls, registrations, warranty claims, thefts and insurance coverage

What is VIN Etching ?
VIN etching is a countermeasure to motor vehicle theft. It most commonly involves the use of a stencil and glass etching paste to etch a vehicle's identification number (VIN) onto the windshield and windows. Thieves would need to replace the glass before selling the stolen vehicle, thus reducing or eliminating their profit.

How effective is VIN Etching?
Cars that have been VIN Etched have a 74% lower theft rate than non-Etched cars and even if so, a VIN Etched car has more than an 85% chance of recovery if it is stolen. In fact, VIN Etching is so effective that many insurance companies will offer discounts on premiums or deductibles for VIN Etching. Some states have even mandated that insurance providers must provide up to 35% discount to every policy holder insured in the state. Check with your insurance company and/or state to see if you qualify after using our easy D.I.Y. system.

How is the Insta Etch process different from the other kits on the market?

To begin with, Insta Etch VIN Etch Systems are around 1/3 the price of other, older etch kits! In addition, the all-inclusive digital device is mobile, wireless, and handheld. You can type and print the required VIN stencils, with no setup, in around 30 seconds, and etch the entire vehicle in less than 10 minutes. Insta Etch systems use thermal print technology and a patented process to permanently etch the glass more precise than the competitors kits. These other kits are dusty, old, hand-me-down typewriters wired to your computer or even messy sandblasting guns that can easily ruin glass without proper training. Our system finally solves all the shortcomings of competitors systems.

What is the difference in the professional Insta Etch 1400 silver, and the 1650 gold & 1650 diamond systems?

To be clear, Insta Etch sells 3 system configurations while utilizing only 2 different digital stencil printers. Both printers have an integrated keyboard for easy manual entry of a VIN. The Silver Series 1400 is our basic, most economical Vin Etch System but still provides you with just as much profit and potential as our higher end kits. While the 1400 series can print and handle the large quantities and same precise VIN printing as our other systems, the only drawback is that this device cannot print downloaded images, as our 1650 series printers do.

So what makes the 1650 Series revolutionary?

1650 Insta Etch systems have the remarkable feature of being able to etch logos! Both the gold "best seller" and diamond "all-inclusive" systems include this downloadable digital printer with the easy option to save and print any image or database file to this wireless device. Again, all this for a third the cost of older competitor's kits! This means you can now mark a vehicle make or your own company logo to the glass and to even etch an entire VIN database of all the vehicles you will be servicing, with just the touch of a button. Imagine the customer satisfaction of seeing their own vehicle logo on the windshield, just think of the convenience of producing exact VIN stencils for your entire fleet in no time at all. Although these two kits utilize the same 1650 printer, there are a few differences in the accessories. The best seller 1650 gold series has the basics to get Vin Etching with downloaded logos and enough material to etch well over 120 marks. The diamond 1650 series has an additional stencil cartridge, and many upgraded features to etch more vehicles.
